I am currently an Assistant Professor at CSU @ Monterey Bay doing research into mobile-oriented deep learning inference, mental health screening, and mobile inference privacy.
I completed my PhD in The Cake Lab @ Wπ working with Dr. Tian Guo Prior to starting my PhD I worked at GLOBALFOUNDRIES (IBM) in Williston, Vermont as part of the ASIC Product Engineering team. I completed my Masters of Science in Computer Science at the University of Vermont in 2013, after having a dual Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering and Pure Mathematics there in 2010.
Research Interests
My research focuses on how we can use machine learning on mobile devices to improve human experiences. The aim of this research is to make technology accessible and easy, as well as leveraging it for human wellbeing. This touches not only on how to make inference seemless, but also how to use machine learning to screen for mental health while maintaining end-user privacy.
Outside of the Lab
Outside of the lab I like to be outside, either climbing, running, hiking, or biking. That said, I also can often be found curled up on the couch with my cats.
